Confessions of an Enlightened American

A reader recently confessed, " I have spent most of my life as a Democrat. I recently have seen fit to follow another course. Socialism has taken over my party. They, the Progressives, differed in their assessment of the problems and how to resolve them, they generally shared in common the view that
government at every level must be actively involved in these reforms. The existing constitutional system was outdated and must be made into a dynamic, evolving instrument of social change, aided by scientific knowledge and the development of administrative bureaucracy. These party members wave the American flag but they are pushing a non-American vision. This is the issue of the next election is whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capitol can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves."
We were told by the President, we must accept a greater government activity in the affairs of the people. One Senator referred to the President as "our moral teacher and our leader," and he says he is "hobbled in his task by the restrictions of power imposed on him by this antiquated document."(The Constitution) He must "be freed," so that he "can do for us" what he knows "is best."
Another articulate Democratic spokesman, defines liberalism as "meeting the material needs of the masses through the full power of centralized government." "The full power of centralized government" was the very thing the Founding Fathers sought to minimize. They knew that governments don't control things. A government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use propaganda and coercion to achieve its purpose.
Others in the Democratic party have stated:
- "The cold war will finally end through our acceptance of a democratic socialism."
- "Capitalism has become outmoded. It must be replaced by the incentives of the welfare state."
- "Our traditional system of individual freedom is incapable of solving the complex problems of the 21st century."
- The Constitution is outmoded.
- "Natural inalienable rights and natural inalienable liberties exist only in the kingdom of mythological social zoology."
- "The school of political theory, endorsed in the Revolution, has been discredited and repudiated.
This is nothing new in this country, it is just accelerating. Back in 1936, Mr. Democrat himself, Al Smith, the great American, came before the American people and charged that the leadership of his Democratic Party was taking the legacy of Jefferson, Jackson, and Cleveland down the road under the banners of Marx, Lenin, and Stalin. He walked away from his Party, and he never returned til the day he died -- because to this day, the leadership of that Party has been taking that Party, that honorable Party, down the road in the image of the Socialist Party.
This country has proliferating bureaus with their thousands of regulations have cost us many of our constitutional safeguards. How many of us realize that today federal agents can invade a man's property without a warrant? They can impose a fine without a formal hearing or trial by jury? They can seize and sell his property at auction to enforce the payment of that fine? All in direct violation of your rights assigned to every citizen by the Constitution? Such machinery already exists. The government can find some charge to bring against any concern it chooses to prosecute.Our natural, unalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment in history.

What has America Become?

- If we lie to the Congress. it's a felony and if the Congress lies to us its just politics.
- If we dislike a black person, we're racist but if a black dislikes whites, it's their lst Amendment right.
- The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims.
- In public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process.
- You can kill an unborn child, but its wrong to execute a mass murderer.
- We don't burn books in America, we now rewrite them.
- We force children to march in "gay pride" parades under the guise of "education."
- We supposedly rid the Communist and Socialist threat by renaming them Progressives.
- We are unable to close our border with Mexico but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea.
- If you protest against President 0bama's policies you're a terrorist, but it you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy, it was your lst Amendment right.
- You can have pornography on TV or the Internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas.
- We have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people.
- A moment of silence in school is considered trying to force a religion.
- We can use a human fetus for medical research, but it's wrong to use an animal.
- Home schooling your children to keep them from being indoctrinated into Leftist ideology is now considered "child abuse."
- We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work. The land of opportunity ls now the land or hand outs.
- We support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology.
- We still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct.
- Parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games.

Is It Too Late for America?

We, at the American Constitutionalist, have fought hard over the last years to prevent our country's overt and accelerated destruction but the darker forces stronger than many of us have overcome concerted efforts by millions of Americans to maintain the Republic. Our declining national pride is not a good thing. It’s symptomatic of how far we’ve fallen. Mediocrity, sloth, godlessness, dependence, cowardice, using the law selectively or ignoring it, and hopeless corruption are defining this new country. Those of us who have justifiable reasons to lack pride in our nation are not a minority of extremists. We actually love America, or at least, what America was supposed to be. But we know that nation is very nearly gone, and has been replaced with something despicable. We simply see the truth, and that truth is finally spreading far and wide, but is it too late?

Freedom Act - Freedom Lost

- Resume the NSA data collection program, but only for a transition period of six months. After that, the legislation would no longer allow the NSA to sweep up Americans' records in bulk. Instead, it would leave the records with phone companies and give the government the ability to seek access with a warrant.(They would STILL be spying on Americans)
- Continue other post-9/11 surveillance provisions that also lapsed Sunday night. These include the FBI's authority to gather business records in terrorism and espionage investigations and to more easily eavesdrop on suspects who are discarding cellphones to avoid surveillance.
- Create a panel to provide the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court with guidance on privacy and civil liberties matters.
- Increase
transparency for the surveillance court's decisions.

The bill would not abridge NSA collection of Americans’ international communications, nor prevent the NSA or the FBI from warrantlessly
searching through its troves of them for Americans’ identifying information, a constitutional violation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the right to privacy in our “persons, houses, papers and effects.” That includes everything held by the custodians of our records.. The recently disclosed bulk domestic phone records collection dragnet by the Drug Enforcement Agency would also be untouched.
In a little-noted speech at Washington and Lee Law School, Gen. Michael Hayden, the former director of both the CIA and the NSA, in a remarkable public confession, he revealed that somehow he received from some source he did not name the authority to reinterpret the Fourth Amendment’s protection of privacy so as to obliterate it. He argued that the line between privacy and unbridled government surveillance is a flexible and movable one, and that he -- as the head of the NSA -- could move it.
This is not only chilling to all true Americans but given the fact that the FBI has stated that they can’t point to any major terrorism cases they’ve cracked thanks to the key snooping powers in the Patriot Act then there is definitely more to this legislation than meets the eye. Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz said that between 2004 and 2009, the FBI tripled its use of bulk collection under Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which allows government agents to compel businesses to turn over records and documents, and increasingly scooped up records of Americans who had no ties to official terrorism investigations.
